The more you use flotation tanks the better it gets! Each flotation tank session is unique, and two floats are rarely the same. Regular use gives more benefits the longer you use, its instant rejuvenation once you get the hang of it, think of it like a fast charge but for you body and mind.

During a float, you produce slower brain-waves patterns, known as theta waves, which are normally only experienced during a deep meditation or just before falling asleep. This is usually accompanied by vivid imagery, very clear, creative thoughts, sudden insights and inspirations or feelings of profound peace and joy. Because of these effects, floating is used effectively in the treatment of depression and addictions, not to mention excellent for muscle recovery and aids with chronic pain management.

Floating, as with other treatments, does not suit everybody. It requires willingness on your part to let go and see what happens, and you may need to float a few times before you are able to relax completely, both physically and mentally. Depending on your own journey through life, a float might provide an hour of total physical relaxation – or a profound healing experience, emotionally and spiritually transforming. Floating can be a wonderful aid to opening doors into your inner world, gradually allowing access to those deeper levels at which real changes take place.

Of course but you cannot float in your first trimester…. You can float while you’re pregnant,  most pregnant women report relief from back pain caused by additional weight and the pull of gravity experienced during pregnancy. It’s also very common for women to feel a greater sense of connection to their baby during a float session. We do ask that you consult with your doctor before booking a float.

Fear not, you can still float! As you get more comfortable with the concept, you can close the door down. You are in complete control of your experience. You can leave the door open, lights on, or stop at any time!

Yes! We don’t feel it would be right to exclude almost HALF of the population from floating for a quarter of their lives. Periods are a part of life and we know that. Just use your best judgement and follow the same protocol you would when swimming in a public pool. If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact us.

STRIP OFF. We recommend floating in your birthday suit, leaving you free of distraction and restriction, but do what makes you comfortable! You can bring a swimsuit but definitely avoid wearing your favourite clothes. Our salty water gets everywhere and can leave a salty residue on clothing.

Sensory deprivation is a process that removes external stimuli (such as sight, sound, traffic, texts, Instagram notifications) for a psychological benefit. It sounds scary because deprivation makes us think of things that are being taken away, but what you are getting is SO MUCH MORE than that. By removing these external stimuli, you can shut out the noise and the demands of everyday life and JUST BE. Experience the natural journey that your mind wants to take without any external constraints.

The Epsom salt solution is beneficial to the skin and hair. People leave the tank with softer-feeling skin. It is advisable to not use any hair colouring or dyeing products prior to float, schedule your session typically one or two weeks after your hair colouring.
Please do not shave or wax before arriving. It isn’t the end of the world if you do but salt water on freshly shaven/waxed legs isn’t the most pleasant thing on Earth.

Most importantly, Relax! The tank will help but if you arrive relaxed, the experience will be more beneficial for you. There are a few additional things to consider.

  • Do not shave or wax before arriving.
  • Do not wear any hair or skin products.
  • Remove your contacts lens prior to floating (bring a container to store them in).
  • If you have caffeine before you float, it may interfere with your ability to relax.

It is safe to fall asleep in the tank. Even those who say they never sleep on their backs in bed are often able to in the tank. It is very difficult to roll over in the tank because of the density of the solution, always float with you head to the door of the pod

We have a filtration system that runs after each session. There is more than 450 kgs of medical grade Epsom salt dissolved in the tank – a concentration so high no living microorganism can survive. In addition, an ultra-violet light sterilization system is used and all water will pass through this high powered light. UV is the safest, most effective system available and uses the same technology as water purification systems used for drinking water. We use very light doses of H2o2 to maintain cleanliness, Our pods are 15 times more efficient than a swimming pool, with these 4 elements combined x3 after each use there is no cleaner environment possible. A shower is mandatory before floating.

Unless you’re over 7 feet tall or over 500 pounds, you’re good to go.

Yes! And it may be good to arrange your time so you don’t have to rush. Many people enjoy savoring the peace and quiet before jumping into something hectic.

It’s going to sting a little. But no worries, you can just open the door, grab a towel or tissue provided, dab the salt water off, spray a little water from your bottle provided and get back to your session. We will provide you with clean water in a special bottle to wash your eye should you get salt inside.

Yes! For your well-being, we will not allow you to float if you have any of the following conditions:

If you have had you hair colored in the last 10 days you cannot float or if unsure we can do ‘wet hair test’ to see if color will run…. Ear plugs are provided and we ask you use them for two reasons, they stop salt water getting in your ears and bouncing around as your head is suspended in the water, if it does its ok just wash it out in the shower after! Secondly  if someone leaves early or leaves their phone/takes on they do not disturb you! We ask you keep your phone on silent and respect the person in the next room who may be still in their session or floating for a  longer session than you .we have an anti drug policy here, if you are suspected of taking drugs we will contact the police and refuse entry with no refund. And lastly  Drift is a place of calm and quiet and we value every bodies session, we ask you to do the same. Always float with your head at the door end of the pod. And finally remember to breath if your mind runs away with you….

When booking we ask you book at least 4 hours prior to your session, We do not do accommodate walk in’s. If you need to cancel that’s no problem but a late or a no show may result in your card being charged for part or full session.
